Weekend Recap | Christmas
Well, this was the quickest Christmas season I’ve ever experienced! Did December feel like it was on fast forward for you?! As soon as I got back from Paris, it seemed like it was like, “BAM!,” full-throttle Christmas mode. And yet, I failed again to continue posting this “Weekend Recaps” consistently on my blog. It looks like this is another half month catch up personal post! ;) HA! It’s okay, though!!! These blog posts are always so much fun to put together!
I hope you had a Merry Christmas!!! Can you believe 2018 is just dayssss away?! Unreal. Have you thought about your intentions for the New Year? I know I haven’t dove (dived? <- you debate!) into that thought process yet, but I’m hinting that I need to continue working on simplifying my life, both in business and personal lifestyles. I cannot wait to sit down this weekend/upcoming week to reflect and analyze my 2017 year!
I would be lying if I didn’t admit that this month has been a little crazy! I’m not one to be bored, but from travels to family time to celebrating Jesus, I honestly felt a little behind on business work the past couple of weeks. But I have to remind myself there is grace because business work will get done, and I shouldn’t feel bad to take time away to spend it with those I care for in my life. We should all step back and consider this! To live a happy, long life here on earth means that we need to fill our hearts with things that matter most! #noguilt Even if that means the dishes will pile up for a few days. ;)
Let’s play a little catch up!
Oh, gosh! This session was the COLDEST session everrrrr, but sunsets on Skyline Drive are worth the drive and the numbness! ;)
I love an excuse to throw on a pair of festive heels and celebrate the Christmas season with some sweet industry friends!!
This particular week was insane! I photographed a snowing wedding at Rust Manor that Saturday, a snowy/windy maternity session on Skyline Drive and then finished that week with two sessions … Again, in the snow! Really, it felt as though the snow was following me! I loveeeee the magical winter atmosphere, and my heart is always warm after connecting with my clients! :) <3
Homemade cookies are the best, especially when you try to cut out the state of Virginia, but it ends up looking like a foot! HA! Those are definitely hidden in this photo below. ;) What’s the best solution for eating too many cookies? Go for a run, of course! ;) Alex took me to Belle Isle for a two-mile run which was a nice change of pace from the treadmill!
Do you recognize these friends, Greg and Alyssa?! I adore these two and their mission to follow God’s plan! Such an inspiration to SO many!!! <3 I’m going to miss them so much while they travel the world for the World Race! Yay, Greg and Alyssa!!! <3
Oh, my gosh, this cat is ridiculous!!!!! HA! She’s going to have a rude awakening next year. ;) ;) ;)
Handwritten cards are the best, especially when you’re missing one of your best friends!!
Christmas festivities continued at Airlie — So fun spending it with this sweet friend!!! <3 Oh, and my friend, Krysta, taught me the ways of a hair straightener and now I’m hooked!!!
Oh, and my friend, Krysta, taught me the ways of a hair straightener and now I’m hooked!!! I need some serious recommendations for heat protecting spray!!!!
JMU is going to the National Championship next week, so I’m trying to sport as much JMU gear to representttttt! GO DUKES!
Awe, my momma is the best!!! She stayed up late one night to help me package Christmas client gifts! I’m so grateful for her and her acts of kindness!!!!
GAH! My brother came home for Christmas from Basic training!!! I love this dude so much! I didn’t recognize him without the head of hair!
This cookie project/day was super fun!!!! If you want to do something fun around the community around the Christmas season, bag up little bags/boxes of cookies and play “Ding, Dong, Ditch” by dropping them off at every door and run away! HA! Alex and I had so much fun running around my subdivision, although, we kept the numbers to a reasonable amount because the development was way too big to conquer! ;) So much fun!!! Try it next year if you haven’t considered this before!
I love that the Christmas season reconnects friends. Time flies by faster and faster as we age, so it was great catching up with my JMU roommates (Sarah was there in spirit!!!)!
My brother is going to kill me for posting this photo (HA!), but real men get a mani/pedi. ;) Especially after the roughness of Basic training!!
MY WORLD!!!!! <3
Loved hanging out with the fam before seeing Star Wars … for the second time! ;) If you haven’t seen it, you should!!!
Alex and I met up for coffee before attending the Christmas season, and we discovered we unintentionally matched! From the color to the V-neck!! HA!
Some friends and I got together to enjoy Christmas Eve together because we knew that times won’t always be like this. :) So, spiked hot cocoa and a ton of cookies are the answer! YUMMMM!
Pixie even joined us for the photo!!! … regrettably! ;)
Oh, my Dad is HILARIOUS! He came from around the corner with “Bon Bon” dressed up in a Santa dog costume… HA! That cat was not very happy, and I wonder why!!! This made his morning! ;)
Alex took me to DC yesterday to explore around and enjoy the beautiful, but freezing, day!!! :) I’m glad he appreciates the glowy photography lighting as much as I do because this sight below was beautiful!!
Yesterday was my first time seeing the National Christmas Tree in person!!! I rarely go to DC, and when I do, it’s typically for work, so I’m in and out FAST! Ha! It was a treat to adventure around with this handsome man! :) We ended the night with a super scrumptious meal at Martin’s Tavern! I loved that we were sitting in JFK’s booth because my grandfather has so many personal stories about him! :)
I know for myself, I take DC for granted, while there are so many who fly in from all over the world to explore the city!! If you haven’t taken the time to visit, especially when you live in the NOVA area, put it on your bucket list! :)
I hope you had a wonderful, safe, and relaxing Christmas!!!! I cannot believe 2018 is just DAYS away!!! AH!
